James is an economic geographer who deploys robust analytical insights to advance devolution, infrastructure and housing policy.
As a Principal Consultant at Metro Dynamics, James blends policy and analytic insight with practical delivery and problem-solving expertise. He has advised clients across the private and public sector, including regional and local authorities, academic experts, government departments and institutional investors to deliver positive outcomes for places. As a tried-and-tested project manager, an expert spatial analyst, and an adept builder of narrative and policy consensus, James is a highly versatile consultant, and is seen as a trusted advisor to his clients.
James is based in our Manchester office, where he leads our work on sub-national growth, in particular within the North of England, where his work on a then-prospective Northern Growth Corridor significantly influenced Government priorities within the region. In his spare time, James writes for the Manchester Mill, a regional newspaper, on topics including productivity, infrastructure and urban economic history.
