Martyn Saunders
Director
Martyn has over 20 years experience leading economic development and regeneration projects across the UK. He brings a unique blend of property, planning and economic development knowledge, understanding the key links and inter-dependencies that create attractive and successful places. Martyn has an excellent understanding of the issues facing urban regeneration and how these can be overcome to unlock growth. He has worked on some of the most significant regeneration programmes in the UK including Euston, Vauxhall Nine Elms, Ebbsfleet, Old Oak Common, Liverpool Waters, Royal Docks and Thamesmead alongside major infrastructure projects such as HS2, Crossrail, DLR and major station developments.
He tackles key issues of high street and town centre regeneration, changing industrial land needs, sector specific growth requirements, the need for, and deliverability of, new forms of small business workspace and transport led development. Focussing on delivery his work clearly identifies key actions and interventions for stakeholders across the public and private sector, maximising investment potential by aligning future growth with market directions.
Previously he has also helped shape debates on the future of development and employment space. He was part of an independent research team for “Places that Work” which focussed on the delivery of workspace in mixed use development to unlock a New London Mix that fuses industrial and residential activity, a commissioner for Centre for London’s “Making Space” research, and a contributor to other Centre for London reports including “Spaces to Think” and “Ideas Above our Stations”. He recently contributed to the new Homes England Guidance on the delivery of ‘town centres’ in new towns and topic edited an edition of the Urban Design Journal, focussed on the future of urban centres.
