Northern cities don’t currently benefit from their proximity to each other, punching below their collective economic weight. In this short discussion paper, we review some of the key opportunities to change this (including Northern Powerhouse Rail), and explore the mutually reinforcing relationships between connectivity between cities, connectivity within cities, and the densification of inner urban areas.
